When I first got whiff that
Brad Pitt
was named the new spokesperson for
Chanel No. 5...
Chanel No. 5...
I thought the marketing idea had the
so choosing hunky Brad Pitt as their first male spokesman
would give the iconic fragrance
a fresh new marketing approach.
I don't, however, need convincing to buy the classic perfume.
I currently wear "the scent of woman."
Bring on the toilet water.
But maybe an ad
with Brad..
with Brad..
would get other women running like mad...
to get their Brad
on.
on.
The essence of the advertisement seemed brilliant...
until I saw the commercial.
Anywhooo.....
The commercial is artsy, set in black and white
Sporting long hair and a goatee,
Brad looks around the room and then into the camera saying...
"It's not a journey.
Every journey ends, but we go on,
Every journey ends, but we go on,
"The world turns and we turn with it."
"Plans disappear, dreams take over.
But wherever I go, there you are.
My luck, my fate, my fortune."
Chanel No. 5
Inevitable.
check it out, here. (30 seconds)
I JUST DON'T GET IT...
I JUST DON'T GET IT...
no matter how many times I watch it.
(Dang, I hate it when I don't get it.)
But what I do get...
is a big laugh.
is a big laugh.
attack.
In an attempt to make the commercial sexy...
Brad comes across as a
scruffy, long-haired man...
scruffy, long-haired man...
talking in riddles.
I think his last line in the Chanel ad...
is sooooo apropo...
is sooooo apropo...
"my luck, my fate, my fortune."
Brad's luck
is that his fate
brings him a 7 million dollar fortune
Inevitable.
P.S.
The essence of this blog was not to
extract a bouquet of insults.
extract a bouquet of insults.
Although there may be a faint scent
of a sarcastic aroma...
and a low note of ridicule...
this my no means
was a slam on the man.
was a slam on the man.
If anyone can pull off the "scruffy riddler" type...
it is Brad Pitt.

Love him, love Chanel, it's a win-win! And as Elizabeth Vargas on GMA said after viewing the ad "you can just go ahead and dump the Chanel all over me!". I'm with her!
